Spring is here and soon all that snow will melt (hopefully!). After such a long winter, your lawn will need some nourishment to help it grow strong and healthy. Fertilizer will help give your lawn the nourishment is needs! Fertilizing creates naturally occurring minerals in your grass’s soil, allowing it to grow consistently. When the nutrients are released, the root systems will fill in any bare patches, depriving weed seeds of sunlight, and thus halting their germinating process.

Two of the most important components to the fertilizing process are lime application and crabgrass control.

Lime application usually takes place in early April. So don’t hesitate to book an appointment with us! This will help your grass grow, as it balances out the acid that has built up over the winter. When your grass has a lot of acid, fungus and other diseases will start to grow, and feed on your grass. Liming your lawn will eliminate the buildup of acid, thus eliminating the outbreak of fungus and other diseases.

Crabgrass is the most common form of weeds. They usually begin to grow sometime in early May. However, you should call us in early April to start the prevention process crabgrass. When you start the prevention process in early April, when May rolls around, crabgrass will be nowhere to be found! However, if you do wait until May to call us, we will be able to get rid of those nasty weeds that are taking over your grass.

Early April is when the fertilizing process should begin. It is important to get an early jumpstart on maintaining your lawn!
