Seeds to Kill the Weeds

Here at Lola’s Landscape, our seed products and services will keep your lawn healthy and weed-free; nothing ruins a lawn more than weeds!

One of the number one services we provide is slice seeding; this service is perfect for athletic fields, as well as lawns that are thinning or are invested with insects and weeds. The seeds will makes its way towards your soil, feeding it the nutrients it needs to grow healthy and resistant to disease and insects.

Overseeding is a fairly new process in the lawn care community, but it is an added benefit! These seeds will help your grass grow thick and green, as well as fight off nasty weeds.

Overseeding, and this is going to sound crazy, but this service will help keep your grass young! That’s right, as we spread grass seeds over your lawn, newer and younger grass will grow, which will help speed up reproduction. When you have older grass blades, reproduction is slowed down, which is why you most likely have thinning grass.

If you want a lawn with a full head of hair, and one without weeds, you have to invest in our seeding services! They are one of the most affective ways in getting a greener, healthier grass!

How to Attain a Greener, Thicker Grass

Your lawn goes through a lot during all four seasons of the year; whether its rain, cold, or unbearably hot, the weather can be extremely tough on your lawn.

These tough weather increments can leave your lawn looking thin and discolored; how do we help revive your lawn?

One way is by overseeding! The fall and the spring are ideal times for overseeding because of the cooler temperatures.

Before we go on with this process, we will have to choose the right seed for your grass; we only choose the highest quality of grass seed, so that less weeds grow on top of your soil.

After we’ve picked the weeds, we will mow your lawn short; this the one and only time we will have mow your lawn lower than three inches; in order for the seeds to get to the soil, the grass has to be cut very short.

Then when we cut the grass, we are able to spread the seed using our spreader. Of course we want to make sure we properly and equally spread the seeds throughout the yard.

Finally, we will water your grass to help the seeds properly grow. The next few weeks after we completed overseeding your lawn, make sure to water your grass on a regular basis. When your grass hits normal height, you can mow the lawn, just make sure the lawnmower is set at a high setting. If you need help in determining when you should cut your grass, or if you don’t own a lawnmower, call Lola’s Landscape, and we will take care of everything for you!

Aeration & Overseeding

Now that summer is almost over, we have come to the time where aeration and overseeding is necessary to maintain a healthy lawn.

Aeration is one of the most important components in maintaining a healthy lawn. As summer comes to an end, take a minute to remember all the times you had BBQs, or your children were playing in the grass; all that foot traffic causes your grass to compact.

Over time, soil will start to compact so much, that sunlight and water cannot get to the root of your grass, causing it to eventually die. Aeration will open up, and loosen your soil, allowing sunlight and rain water to hit the roots.

Overseeding is also very important; overseeding is when we spread grass seed over every parameter of your grass. This will help keep your grass young; when older grass dies, new grass from the seed will grow and replace the old grass. It helps keep a cycle of new grass continuously growing.

Fall is just around the corner, now is the time to schedule a time for our aeration and overseeding services. For questions, or a few estimate, please give us a call at 774-248-4584.
